My exprient in Chenor

Last friday, I went to Sekolah Menengah Tengku Ampuan Afzan at Chenor in Pahang. Before we went to that school, we waited a bus in Pusanika. The trip to chenor from Ukm was about 2 hour. we arrived in Chenor at 4.30 pm. I really susprise when we arrived because the place so peace and beautiful. the student in that school very nice and friendly. at first day, we maked ice breaking and regestration after that we took a dinner together. at nigth my duty was started, first thing i do was arrange the chair and remove the table. I was helps by the school student what all we called them ' Helpers'. Once again I susprised because all the Helpers were girl. They work very hard and they were prettier too. on second day, the programme begun with sport in the morning, we make a football competation. Ukm student beat Smk Chenor 4 - 1 on that competation.Later we make some activities with the student until jungle tracking .

Vancouver has been ranked the best place to live in the world for the fifth year in a row in a survey by the Economist magazine, while Toronto took fifth place out of 132 cities.

The two Canadian cities rank among the top five because they have low crime rates, little threat from instability or terrorism, and a highly developed transport and communications infrastructure, says the survey by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).

Vancouver scored a livability index of 1.3 per cent, with zero indicating exceptional quality of living and 100 indicating life there is intolerable or severely restricted.

A good transportation system helped Vancouver top the Economist's list of the world's most livable cities, again.

Australia also fared well in the survey, securing four spots among the top 10 cities.

Algiers came in at the bottom of the ranking. Nine cities, including Algiers, present the worst-case scenario in which most aspects of living quality are severely restricted, according to the survey.

The EIU's livability ranking is part of the magazine's Worldwide Cost of Living Survey.

The survey considered 40 individual factors in categories such as stability, health care, culture, environment, education and infrastructure.

To the men : warn your loved ones!
To the women : remember this!

About a month ago there was a woman standing by the Mega Mall entrance passing out flyers to all the women going in. The woman had written the flyer herself to tell about an experience she had, so that she might warn other women.

The previous day, this woman had finished shopping, went out to her car and discovered that she had a flat. She got the jack out of the trunk and began to change the flat. A nice man dressed in business suit and carrying a briefcase walked up to her and said,

'I notice you're changing a flat tire. Would you like me to take care of it for you?'

The woman was grateful for his offer and accepted his help. They chatted amiably while the man changed the flat, and then put the flat tire and the jack in the trunk, shut it and dusted his hands off.

The woman thanked him profusely, and as she was about to get in her car, the man told her that he left his car around on the other side of the mall, and asked if she would mind giving him a lift to his car. She was a little surprised and asked him why his car was on the other side. He explained that he had met an old friend in the mall whom he hadn't seen for some time and they had a bite to eat and visited for a while; he got turned around in the mall and left through the wrong exit, and now he was running late and his car was clear around on the other side of the mall.

The woman hated to tell him 'no' because he had just rescued her from having to change her flat tire all by herself, but she felt uneasy. Then she remembered seeing the man put his briefcase in her trunk before shutting it and before he asked her for the ride to his car.

She told him that she'd be happy to drive him to his car, but she just remembered one last thing she needed to buy. She said she would only be a few minutes; he could sit down in her car and wait for her; she would be as quick as she could be. She hurried into the mall, and told a security guard what had happened; the guard came out to her car with her, but the man had left.

They opened the trunk, took out his locked briefcase and took it down to the police station. The police opened it (ostensibly to look for ID so they could return it to the man). What they found was rope, duct tape and knives.

When the police checked her 'flat' tire, there was nothing wrong with it; the air had simply been let out. It was obvious what the man's motive was, and obvious that he had carefully thought it out in advance.

The woman was blessed to have escaped harm. How much worse it would have been had she waited in the car while the man fixed the tire, or if she had a baby strapped into a car seat. Or if she'd gone against her judgment and given him a lift.

Malaysia Petrol Price Increase.....Suprise!!!

This is the invironment at Petronas Station (near my house in Malacca), when our Prime Minester Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi announce the new price of petrol began 5 June 2008.

After an annoucement I heard from news on TV3 at 4pm, me and my husband rush to the pumps but we just got it after 2 hours. The entire town was busy and jam with so many vehichels on the road. So suprised and disappointed!!!

Do you agree with the price now? Why?

Hello my friends! Emm…do you know which capital city was the coldest in the world? That would be fun to research this answer. Therefore, I surf the internet to find for coldest capital city in the world. The results were interesting!

Ulan Bator, or Ulaanbaatar is the capital and the largest city of Mongolia. It was the coldest national capital city in the world with an average annual chilly temperature of 29.7°F and -1.3°C. Its population as of 2008 is just over 1 million.

Ulaan-baatar is located at about 1350 meters (4430 ft) above sea level, slightly east of the center of Mongolia. It has a monsoon-influenced subarctic climate with brief, warm summers and long, very cold and dry winters. The winters continues long with cold temperature but summer is hot but not so long. Winter lasts from November to late April, spring May through June. Summer continued from July through to September. In Mongolia there are 250 sunny days a year, often with clear cloudless skies. Therefore Mongolia is known to the world as a country of “Blue Sky”.

Ulan Bator has numerous names in its history. From 1639-1706, it was known as Orgoo, and from 1706-1911 as Ikh Khuree, Da Khuree or simply Khuree. Upon independence in 1911, the city’s name changed to Niislel Khuree. Its name was changes to Ulaanbaatar. In Europe and North America, Ulan Bator was generally known as Urga.

My holiday in Malacca

During the shool holiday, on 24th May 2008, my husband and I have brought our children to Malacca since it has a lot of historical and interesting places to visit.

It was the third times we were there. We went to Malacca because it is not too far from Kajang where we are staying. Our children also request to go to ' Zoo Malacca' because it has been a long time they never go to zoo other than ' Zoo Negara' in Kuala Lumpur.

Our children were very excited when we got there because they can walk around and see many animals in the zoo. We also took a train provided in the zoo to go from one place to another places to see animals and their natural enviroment.

There was also an animals exhibition held in the zoo. We saw how animals such as the parrot coleect rubbish and balls and put in the basket. We also took a picture with orang utan.

We felt very satisfied because our children were very happy since their request has been fulfilled.

About 3.00 o,clock in the evening, we went to the historical places in the city of Malacca such as A Famosa Monument. We also ate rice at there. We took a tricycle which was beautifully decorated to go around the city. After that, we bought some souvenirs for our memories and for my love families in Kelantan.

Then after 2 hour later, we went back to our home in Kajang. Our children were very tired and asleep in the car along the journey.

Actually, we like to have a holiday by visiting the intersting places in our country. Is is our hope that one day , we would be able to go to visit Sabah and Sarawak. Bye.....

Today, I would like to share about West Africa and people in there. I like to know more about Africa. it is very interting to me.

In West Africa, seosanably day weather prevailed over the Sahel and the Gulf of Guinea region. Temperature departures averaged 1-4 degrees C above normal over western Sahel from western Mali into Senegal. It 1 to 3 degrees C below normal from eastern Mali into Nigeria.

West Africa is oriented west of an imagined north-south axis lying close to 10° east longitude. The Atlantic Ocean forms the western and southern borders of the region. The northern border is the Sahara Desert, with the Niger Bend generally considered the northernmost part of the region.

The eastern border is less precise, with some placing it at the Benue Trough, and others on a line running from Mount Cameroon to Lake Chad. Colonial boundaries are reflected in the modern boundaries between contemporary West African nations, cutting across ethnic and cultural lines, often dividing single ethnic groups between two or more countries.

West Africa occupies an area in excess of 6,140,000 km², or approximately one-fifth of Africa. The vast majority of this land is plains lying less than 300 meters above sea level, though isolated high points exist in numerous countries along the southern shore of the region.

The northern section of West Africa is composed of semi-arid terrain known as Sahel, a transitional zone between the Sahara desert and the savannahs of the western Sudan forests form a third belt between the savannas and the southern coast, ranging from 160 km to 240 km in width.

Islam is the predominant historical religion of the West African interior and the far west coast of the continent; Christianity is the predominant religion in coastal regions of Nigeria, Ghana, and Cote d'Ivoire; and elements of indigenous religions are practiced throughout. Before the decline of the Mali and Songhai Empires there was a sizable group of Jewish communities in areas like Mali, Senegal, Mauritania, and Nigeria.

Today there are small Jewish populations in Ghana, Nigeria and Mali. Along with historic migrations, these religions have culturally linked the peoples of West Africa more than those in other parts of Sub-Saharan Africa.

The game Oware is quite popular in many parts of West Africa. Soccer is also a pastime enjoyed by many, either spectating or playing. The national teams of some West African nations, especially Nigeria, Ghana and the Ivory Coast, regularly qualify for the World Cup

City in Saudi Arabia with 1.4 million inhabitants (2003 estimate). Mecca is located about 80 km from the Red Sea Coast, around a natural well.
Mecca is the most holy city in Islam. The city is revered from being the first place created on earth, as well as the place where Ibrahim together with his son Isma'il, built the Ka'ba. The Ka'ba, the centre of Islam, is a rectangular building made of bricks. Around the Ka'ba is the great mosque,
al-Haram, and around the mosque, in between the mountains, are the houses that make up Mecca.
Mecca was a central point on the caravan routes running over the Arabian peninsula at the time of Muhammad. Mecca was revered as a holy city even before the first revelations came to Muhammad.
Mecca's importance as a centre of religious teaching must not be exaggerated. Very soon in the beginning of the Muslim expansion, religious teaching moved to other places in the Muslim world. Mecca is important in two points: Centre of the compulsory pilgrimage, and a focal point for
all Muslims.Today, many of the people living in Mecca are pilgrims wanting to study Islam in the very centre of the world. But this learning is primarily aimed at normal people, and even today Muslim theology is exercised other places. But for Saudi Arabia, Mecca is the centre of religious teaching.
Apart from the services for pilgrimage there are only modest economic activities going on. Every year some 2 million pilgrims attend the hajj, and this number is now regulated, where each country can send a fixed number of adherents. The numbers of Muslims coming to Mecca for the umra, the lesser pilgrimage are far less, and not regulated.

Welcome to the Mount Kinabalu photo gallery. Here you'll find a selection of Mount Kinabalu pictures I took on visits between 2000 and 2003.Mt Kinabalu, which lies in Sabah in northern Borneo, is at 4100 m the highest peak between the Himalayas and Papua New Guinea. Despite its height it is very easy to climb and does not require any special equipment or training. Anybody with sufficient stamina can climb the mountain - during my first climb in 2000 for instance I met a team of Japanese retirees on the peak. The climb begins at the Timpohon gate (1866 m altitude) and climbers usually make it to the Laban Rata resthouse at 3300 m on day one. Most of the climbers leave the next morning between 3am and 4am in order to reach the summit at 6am to experience the spectacular sunrise. It's important not to arrive to early on the summit, to avoid freezing in the cold night waiting for the sunrise.Adapting to the height is not really an issue, because Mt. Kinabalu is not that high (only 4100m - compare that to the Kilimanjaro, which is almost 6000m high) and because the whole climb lasts about 24 hours. Within 24 hours you go up and down.

Tawau Hills National Park
The lush forests of the Tawau Hills in the east coast of Sabah were gazetted as a National Park to protect the natural environment with its unique flora and fauna and to ensure an uninterrupted water supply for the region. Rugged volcanic terrain cover the natural landscape, in sharp contrast to the neatly cultivated plantations of oil palm, cocoa and rubber on the flat coastal plains. It covers an area of 27, 972 hectares.
Lush dipterocarp forest vegetation and lianas cover the lower regions giving way to thick damp mossy forests as the altitude gets higher and temperatures get cooler. The variety of plant life found within the Park include Agathis, Mountain Ru, Tree ferns, different species of orchids and begonia. A particularly interesting specie is the Mengaris tree whose smooth grey trunk makes it particularly difficult to climb. Wild bees protect their precious store of honey from the voracious honey bears, by making their honeycombs high up these trees.
Macaques, creamy white leaf monkeys, giant tree squirrels, civet cats and leopard cats inhabit the park’s dense primary forests. Borneo’s largest wild cat - the clouded leopard, though rarely seen is not uncommon. It preys on smaller mammals such as rats and even bigger wild pigs. Other inhabitants of the harmless kind include 8 different species of hornbills and pheasants and the slow-moving forest tortoise
There are also hotsprings-Mother Nature’s very own spa, where you can ease your tired muscles and weary bones while luxuriating in the therapeutic warmth of the ‘geothermal’ pool. Getting there Tours to Tawau Hills Park depart daily from Tawau. The Lucia Jungle Lodge, built next to the park headquaters, offers simple, inexpensive accommodation in cozy rooms near the southern boundry of the park and amidst several streams. The cafeteria is open all day long but the lodge also offers a kitchenette for it's guests who wish to prepear their own meals.

Malacca was founded by a fleeing prince from Sumatra in 14th century, it developed into a major trading port for ships from India and China. As the Melaka Sultanate flourished, the Portuguese conquered Malacca in 1511. Later the Dutch took over in 1641 until much later the British empire ruled Malacca. The state finally obtained independence with the then "Malaya states" in 1957. Today, one will find many remnants of the glorious past dated back more than 500 years ago.

HISTORICAL PLACES

A'Famosa.
After the Portuguese captured Melaka, they built a fortress to defend themselves. The fortress, called A'Famosa suffered severe destruction during the Dutch invasion. What's left today is just the entrance walls, still well preserved till today

Stadthuys
The Stadthuys (1650) was the official residence of the Dutch Governor. It now houses the Historic Museum and Ethnography Museum which has many traditional bridal costumes and relics on display. Nearby, one will also find the Christ Church built in 1753, another fine example of the Dutch architecture

Baba and Nyonya Heritage Museum
'Straits Chinese' or the Baba and Nyonya , are Chinese of noble descendants that have adopted much of the Malay culture into theirs. The public can now review the heirloom unique to this heritage at private museum run by the Babas and Nyonyas of Malacca. Floral and pictorial motifs grace parts of the front of the house whilst the interior is adorned with intricately carved fittings finished in gold leaf.

Hang Tuah's well
Hang Tuah's well is located in Kampung Duyong where Hang Tuah was born and spent his childhood among four of his good friends who would later become the famous warriors of Malacca Sultanate. The well is said to be the abode of his soul which takes the apparition of a white crocodile. For a commoner to catch the glimpse of Hang Tuah is hardly likely. It is said that the holy among us can ever hope to see the apparition.

There are many historical places and interesting side you can visit at Malacca City.

Vacation at Cherating, Pahang

During the school holiday end of last year, My family and I went to Cherating, Pahang for vacation. This time we choosed Cherating because of beautiful beach that I always heard from my friends. This is the first time we arrived at Cherating . Usually our vacation destination are Pantai Teluk Batik, Pantai Port Dickson, Pantai Cahaya Bulan and Pantai Tanjung Bidara.

Vacation for 3 days and 2 night was planned with interesting activities. We stayed at Legend Hotel, Cherating. Travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Cherating take about 5 hours using East Coast highway.

After we arrived at Cherating, my husband went to registration counter to check in the room. My children was very happy with the environment and facilities that offered. Foods and room was very nice and delicious. Our activity for the first day are swimming at beach and pool. My children enjoyed the activities very much.

The second day, my family and I went to Kuala Trengganu looking for keropok lekor. Keropok lekor is the icon for Trengganu. It is delicious snake that sell everywhere along the road to Kuala Trengganu. The distance from Cherating to Kuala Trengganu is about 49km and take 45 minutes to drive. Along the way, many local people sell keropok lekor with different variety. We buy a lot of Keropok Lekor for us and also for our neighbors.

We went home on the third day. Our memory in Cherating wil never forget. When the time come, we will go again. I suggest to all my friends, go for vacation at Cherating once for your whole life. Cuti-Cuti Malaysia.....................

Unit 3-My Holiday at Perlis

Assalamualaikum...Hello my friends..What are you doing last holiday?are you picnic or rest at home???I hope you all always happy.Last holiday,my friends and i went to Perlis for climbing 'Gunung Wang kelian'.It's interesting vacation.This vacation is under PERMATA(Persatuan anak negeri Terengganu).We went at there by UKM bus.

When arrived at Perlis,we built tent because we in the forest.After 3 hours,we climbed up the Mountain Wang Kelian.This expedition was very adventure and so hard.We arrived at the peak of the mountain about 6 hours later.............This is most sweet memory in my life and an unforgettable experience.

Next day,we explored the cave.The named of cave is 'Gua Burma 1' and and 'Gua Burma 2'.It's so dark and many speciess animal at there such as snakes,frogs,bats and many more.We moved as a group in the cave.We enter in the both of the cave in 4 hours.This activities so tired but interesting.We also explored 'Gua kelam'

Last day at the Perlis,we shopping at the 'Padang Besar'.This place is so popular among visitor in Malaysia.This is because many foods and things so cheap..At there,I and my friends bought souvenir and handicraft to make memory.This trip make me happy because many experience i can learned at there.This is also one from people and environment.......i hope i can go at the Perlis next time and hope my classmate go to enjoy at there....see ya

Kano is a city in Negeria in West Africa.But this city is unlike other cities in the world for all the buildings and houses here are made of mud!.A great wall, twelve miles round, surrounds the city.The people here live like theirs ancestors five hundred years ago.Their mud houses are small and are square or round.Do you know how these people build a mud house?.First they dig up some dry clay soil and add water to it till it become a thick paste.Then they use this mixture to build the roof and walls of the house.After that they leave the house to dry in the sun.Once the house is dried,it is ready to be lived in.Will the houses crumble when it rains?No, because there are pipes on all the houses to lead the rain-water away to the ground.However, it seldom rains in Kano.There are only occasional thunderstorm in May and June.The Streets in Kano are narrow, and there are no lorries or motorcars.Instead you will find thousands of cyclists and some donkeys and camels.Most of the people living in this city own a bicycle each.The busiest place in the city is the market square.Here you will find hawkers selling cloth,carpets,spices,cakes and many other things.On the whole Kano is a busy place and the people here lead a happy life.Would you like to visit this 'Mud City' one day?

Hai friends....How are you today?
Ermm...I'm begin think about class Foundation BI set 17... When the first time I'm come to this class untill now, I never bored. This is only the one class which I feel very interesting and sweet in my life. Firstly, I'm very happy to have friend like our now in set 17. I feel very excited to learn English more even thought I'm not good in English but I still one to improve it. I hope one day I can speak English fluently like madam NurHuda.

HEY my friends, This is about myself. My name is Noor Faridah Bt Ishak. I’ve 6 sisters and 4 brothers, WOW … big family. My father worked as a farmer and my mother as a fulltime housewife... My parents stayed in Felda Lepar Hilir, Pahang which near Kuantan.

Let talk about my family, currently I stayed in Shah Alam 2, Puncak Alam, Selangor. I was married and my husband name is Ahmad Yusri Dak. My husband worked at Universiti Teknologi MARA as lecturer. I’ve 2 lovely kids, My son name is Ahmad Daniel and my daughter name is Farah Natasya which 7 and 5 years old. I love my family very much and I spend most of my time with my family. They are meant to me…..

What else… emmmm… before I forget, my age is 30 years old and I was born in Kedah. I start my career as teacher for the past 7 years. I’m graduated from Institut Bahasa Melayu Malaysia(IBMM) Kuala Lumpur. After graduated, I was sent to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan SS17, Subang Jaya for about 3 years. After that I moved to Bandar Jengka Pahang because my husband was transferred to UiTM Pahang. After 3 years serviced at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Pusat Jengka then I moved again to Selangor. At this time, I start teach at Sekolah Kebangsaan Subang Bestari near Sungai Buluh, Selangor. In June 2007, I was offered to further my study at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia under Faculty of Education, thanks to Hishamudin Tun Hussain that give me this offer. …… I was very happy to start my new life as a student with half pay even suffered with limited budget and the increasing of petrol, foods, rice, egg and everything(Thanks Pak Lah for your attractive news )…. That ‘s make my life miserable but my husband give me full financial and moral support.

When I decided to further my study, I though everything flow smoothly, but our plan is totally different from what ALLAH plan. Last semester, I was cheated with my friend and I learned a lot from that lesson. My advice to all my friends “ Don’t trust 100% your friend even he/she your best friend…. Maybe one day he/she will cheat(who know), maybe your enemy becomes your best friend. That's what happened to me....... Who is he/she??????”

As hypothesized, teacher locus of control was related to teacher stress. The multiple correlations between the combined stress factors and locus of control was significant. Group Instruction made the greatest contribution to this multiple correlation. At the vicariate level, Group Instruction, Professional Inadequacy, and Principal/ Teacher Professional Relationships were related to locus of control. The relationships between locus of control and the stress measures of Job Overload and Collegial Relationships, respectively, were not significant as was true for sex and age. Also, the relationship between locus of control and a linear combination of the five stress variables was not moderated by sex and age. A consideration of the behavioral indicators of locus of control on the Teacher Locus of Control Scale and the behaviors associated with each of the stress factors on the Teacher Occupational Stress Factor Questionnaire make these results more meaningful. The teacher locus of control measure was based upon seven behavioral manifestations thought to be indicative of the construct. These seven behavioral indicators of an internal locus of control follow. (The statements become descriptions of an external locus of control orientation when the verbs in parentheses are substituted.)
In short, the internal teacher, realizing that he/she is influential in the classroom, accepts the responsibility for his/her actions and works hard to achieve educational goals. The external teacher, on the other hand, feeling that he/she has little control over what happens, does not seem to value planning, ability, or effort but instead at- tributes educational outcomes to luck, fate, and chance.
Teachers in this study for whom group instruction was not stressful seemed to feel that they had adequate control of their students. They planned and organized a wide range of learning activities and felt that their students profited from their teaching.
Teachers who felt professionally adequate did not find discipline problems overly stressful nor did they have trouble motivating the unmotivated. Working with parents did not seem to bother them nor did the salary they received for their work.
Teachers whose relationships with their principals were not stressful felt supported and valued by their principals who gave them authority to carry out their responsibilities. These principals had insight into classroom problems and could be talked to openly about school-related matters. In short, those teachers experiencing the least stress were those who felt that they were professionally capable of helping their students learn and they had been given the responsibility of doing so. They were teachers with an internal locus of control

Istanbul (historically Byzantium and later Constantinople; see the other names of Istanbul) is Europe's most populous city (the world's 4th largest city proper and 20th largest urban area) and Turkey's cultural and financial center. The city covers 27 districts of the Istanbul province. It is located on the Bosphorus Strait and encompasses the natural harbor known as the Golden Horn, in the northwest of the country. It extends both on the European (Thrace) and on the Asian (Anatolia) side of the Bosphorus, and is thereby the only metropolis in the world which is situated on two continents. In its long history, Istanbul served as the capital city of the Roman Empire (330–395), the East Roman (Byzantine) Empire (395–1204 and 1261–1453), the Latin Empire (1204–1261), and the Ottoman Empire (1453–1922). The city was chosen as joint European Capital of Culture for 2010. The historic areas of Istanbul were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1985.

The city has also been nicknamed "The City on Seven Hills" because the historic peninsula, the oldest part of the city, was built on seven hills (just like Rome), each of which bears a historic mosque. The hills are represented in the city's emblem with seven triangles, above which rise four minarets. Two of many other old nicknames of Istanbul are Vasilevousa Polis (the Queen of Cities), which rose from the city's importance and wealth throughout the Middle Ages; and Dersaadet, originally Der-i Saadet (the Door to Happiness) which was first used towards the end of 19th century and is still remembered today. With the Turkish Postal Service Law of March 28, 1930, the Turkish authorities officially requested foreigners to adopt Istanbul as the sole name also in their own languages.

Hagia Sophia
The early Byzantine architecture followed the classical Roman model of domes and arches, but further improved these architectural concepts, as evidenced with the Hagia Sophia, which is the largest structure on Sultanahmet Square in the Eminönü district. The Hagia Sophia was designed by Isidorus and Anthemius as the third church to rise on this location, between 532 and 537, following the Nika riots (532) during which the second church was destroyed (the first church, known as the Megala Ekklessia ("Great Church") was inaugurated by Constantius II in 360; the second church was inaugurated by Theodosius II in 405, while the third and current one was inaugurated by Justinian in 537). The Church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus (commonly known as the Little Hagia Sophia), which was the first church built by Justinian in Constantinople and edificed between 527 and 536, had earlier signaled such an improvement in the design of domed buildings, which require complex solutions for carrying the structure. The present-day Hagia Irene (which was originally built by Constantine in the 4th century, but was later enlarged by Justinian in the 6th century) and the Basilica Cistern are also from this period.

Galata Tower
The most important churches which were built after the Byzantines recovered Constantinople from the Latin Crusaders in 1261 include the Pammakaristos Church and Chora Church. Also in this period, the Genoese Podestà of Galata, Montano de Marinis, built the Palazzo del Comune (1314), a copy of the San Giorgio Palace in Genoa, which still stands in ruins on the back streets of Bankalar Caddesi in Galata, together with its adjacent buildings and numerous Genoese houses from the early 1300s. The Genoese also built the Galata Tower, which they named as Christea Turris (Tower of Christ), at the highest point of the citadel of Galata, in 1348.

Topkapı Palace

Following the Ottoman conquest of the city, Sultan Mehmed II initiated a wide scale reconstruction plan, which included the construction of grand buildings such as the Eyüp Sultan Mosque, Fatih Mosque, Topkapı Palace, the Grand Bazaar and the Yedikule (Seven Towers) Castle which guarded the main entrance gate of the city, the Porta Aurea (Golden Gate). In the centuries following Mehmed II, many new important buildings, such as the Süleymaniye Mosque, Sultanahmet Mosque, Yeni Mosque and numerous others were constructed. In the 18th and 19th centuries, traditional Ottoman architectural styles were gradually replaced by European styles, such as the Baroque style interiors of the Aynalıkavak Palace (1677–1679) and Nuruosmaniye Mosque (1748–1755, the first Baroque style mosque in the city, also famous for its Baroque fountain), and the 18th century Baroque additions to the Harem section of the Topkapı Palace. Following the Tanzimat reforms which effectively started Turkey's Europeanization process in 1839, new palaces and mosques were built in Neoclassical, Baroque and Rococo styles, or a mixture of all three, such as the Dolmabahçe Palace, Beylerbeyi Palace and Ortaköy (Mecidiye) Mosque.

Many other imperial mosques were built in the following centuries, such as the famous Süleymaniye Mosque (1557) which was ordered by Suleiman the Magnificent and designed by the great Ottoman architect Sinan, and the famous Sultan Ahmet Mosque (1616) which is also known as the Blue Mosque for the blue tiles which adorn its interior.

My name is Zeti Nurul Akmar Bt Ahmed Kamarzaman. Yeah.....that is a long name. My name comes from three differents person. 'Zeti' is giving by my father, 'Nurul' by my grandfather and 'Akmar' from my auntie. Why? ....This is because I am a first granddaughter from beside of my mother family. Anyway, I proud with my name and you all can call me 'Zeti', 'Nurul' or 'Akmar'.......hehehe

Ok, let's talk about my life.......Hmmmm I born in Teluk Intan, Perak Darul Ridzuan about 35 years ago (Wow, I'm getting older, but I still look like younger!.....hehehe just kidding). I'm working as a teacher at SRK Perempuan Methodist, Teluk Intan, Perak. Before this I teaching at Kangar, Perlis for about one year and at Tawau, Sabah about five years. Now I'm continuing my studies at Faculty of Education,UKM in course of Special Education -Learning Disabilities under the package of PKPG (Program Khas Pensiswazahan Guru). This is my second year of studies. There is only one more year to go in order to complete my first degree program.

For your information, I am married and my husband name is Mohmmad Sidek Al-Munadi Bin Abdul Razak. He is also a teacher. I have two children. The first one is Amirah Sajidah and she is 9 years old. The younger is Mohd Amirul Muradi and he is 7 years old.

Hi friends...Just to fill my free time...When looking for this blog, I can see all of us just writing about our assignment...Mmmm...Now, how about if we are writing about our experiences in this class, being freinds, or whatever experieces did we have.....

Let me be the first one to share about my experience....Refer to the topic, "SET 17 @ SWEET 17...Which one do you prefer?"....I'm prefer to call our class SWEET 17..Why?..Because I'm really enjoy with this class...The "smoking men" are very funny...Always have an idea to make jokes...I did't felt bored when I were in the class...Now I can see most of us can make jokes and everybody like it, especially me...hehehehe....

My story: Teluk Intan, Perak.

Meet me again....Today I want to tell you a story of my lovely city...Teluk Intan

Teluk Intan is a town located in the state of Perak in Malaysia. It is the largest town in Hilir Perak district and third largest town in the state of Perak with an estimated population of around 110,000. In the early days, the town was known as Teluk Mak Intan, after a female Mandailing trader. It was here that the Perak rulers held court from 1528 until Kuala Kangsar became the royal town in 1877 .
During the British protectorate era, the named was changed to Teluk Anson (Anson Bay), in honour of a British Officer and last Lieutenant-Governor of Penang, Major-General Sir Archibald Edward Harbord Anson who drew the plan of the modern township in 1882. In 1982 during the centenary of the town's establishment, the name was changed again to Teluk Intan (Diamond Bay) by the Sultan of Perak. The town has a number of colonial buildings and Chinese shophouses together with modern buildings and a few shopping complexes.

Places of interest

Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan
One of the town attractions is a Leaning Tower erected in 1885 by a Chinese builder, Mr. Leong Choon Cheong. It started to tilt four years after its construction finished due to an underground stream. The tower had a clock at the top, and still rings every 15 minutes now. The clock tower was originally used as a water tower, supplying water to the town area, while also reporting the time to all townfolks. It had also served as a beacon to guide ships into Teluk Intan Port. Currently it is a local tourist attraction, and no longer stores water. The area around the tower was paved with bricks and became a plaza. The main street at the centre of Teluk Intan is also named after Mr. Leong Choon Cheong to commemorate his contribution. The name of the street is "Jalan Ah Cheong"

Batu Tenggek (War Memorial)

Another attraction is the 'Batu Tenggek' (Sitting Boulder) which is situated at a junction in the town centre. The rock was believed to be placed by a British soldier and was a size of a matchbox. Over the years, the small rock grew bigger until it reached the size of a boulder. This boulder is now part of a local war memorial built to commemorate World War I and World War II.

Unit 8 : What different at Hulu Langat?..

At 5th Jun 2008, my family seleberate a Father's Day at Ikan Bakar Kg Sg Lui Hulu Langat. . Here's what I think...Ikan bakar here I come!!! Medan Ikan Bakar Kg Sg Lui is beautifully located . There are ample parking here but if you come after seven pm on a weekend, this place is packed with people. One of the best things about these places are that you get to choose your own fishes and crustaceans from a 'whole sampan' You can choose from different varieties of kembung, siakap, caru, baung, crabs, prawns, talapia, kerapu and the list goes on and on....
The eating area where you can find delicious ikan bakar. If you are familiar with Kg Sg Lui, Hulu Langat this area is just 30km from Kajang. . The fish bakar when you order and will be served with they are ready to your table.I took quite a lot of chili dishes but some how most of them taste sweet rather that spicy. Either my taste buds are more immune to chili, or the type of curries and chili sauce as sweet. I tried both the sting ray and the ikan kembung. I like both, but prefer the sting ray.Both the fish comes with sweet sauce and chili sauce. You can choose to dunk your fish in the sauce and have it with your rice. Probably it's a better idea to use your finger while you eat (instead of the fork and spoon) as the whole hand finger action thing will surely make you love eating ikan bakar more. Don't worry about getting your hand dirty as they have sinks and clean water from the pipe at the eating area.....

PULAU TIOMAN

Pulau Tioman, situated 56km northeast of Mersing, is the largest and most developed of the volcanic islands that comprise the Pahang Marine Park. The other islands are Pulau Renggis, Pulau Sepoi, Pulau Labas, Pulau Soyah, Pulau Chebeh, Pulau Tulai, Pulau Sembilang and Pulau Seri Buat.

Mountainous and covered in dense forest, Pulau Tioman is a haven for birds, bats, lizards and Mouse Deer.

The underwater topography is a combination of patches of coral gardens and huge granite boulders, many over 15m high, on sand. Some are quite bare though many are completely covered in colourful soft tree corals and small sea fans. Bluespotted Lagoon Rays (Taeniura lymma) are found hiding under every crevice and are unusually tame here.

The multitude of beautiful angelfish includes the Blue-ring Angelfish (Pomacanthus annularis) and the larger Six-banded Angelfish (Pomacanthus sextriatus), both are quite common here but rare elsewhere in Malaysia.

In these calm, shallow and warm waters night dives are especially easy. This gives us a lot more time during the dive to observe the many interesting sleeping behaviours exhibited by the denizens here. One hardly has to look for subjects, they present themselves.

The diving at Pulau Tioman is seriously underestimated; it requires better advertising to the international diving community but July and August should be avoided as this is high season for local holidaymakers, most of whom are swimmers and snorkellers. Most diving resorts are closed from October to February due to the southwest monsoon which brings rough seas and squally weather.

Rome is the Capital City of Italy and of the Lazio region, as well as the country’s largest and most populous city. It is located in the Lazio of Central Italy at the confluence of the Aniene and Tiber rivers. Although the city center is about 24km inland from the Tyrrhenian Sea, the city territory extends to the shore, where the South-Western Ostia district is located. The metropolitan area has a population of about 4 million.

According to a legend, the city of Rome was founded by the twins Romulus and Remus on April 21, 753 BC, and archaeological evidence support the theory that Rome grew from pastoral settlements on the Palatine Hill built in the area of the future Roman Forum, coalescing into a city in the 8th Century BC.

Meanwhile, Rome enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate which characterizes the Mediterranean coasts of Italy. It is at its most comfortable from April through June, and from mid-September to October, the Roman ottobrate (beautiful October day) are famously known as sunny and warm days. By August, the temperature during the heat of the day often exceeds 32⁰C (90⁰F); traditionally, many businesses would close during August. The average high temperature in December is about 13⁰C (57⁰F), but below zero lows are not uncommon.

Seoul is the capital and largest city of South Korea. With over ten million people, and 23 million in the wider metropolitan area, Seoul is one of the world's largest cities proper and metropolitan cities.

The city is located on the basin of the Han River in the country's northwest.

Seoul first appears in history in 18 BC, when the Baekje kingdom established its capital Wiryeseong in what is now around Songpa-gu , southeastern Seoul. Modern Seoul descends from the Goryeo-era city called Namgyeong, which then became the capital of Korea during the Joseon dynasty.

The Seoul National Capital Area - which includes the major port city of Incheon and many satellite towns in Gyeonggi-do - has almost 23 million inhabitants, making it the second most populos metropolitan area in the world. Almost half of South Korea's population lives in the Seoul National Capital Area, and nearly one quarter in Seoul itself, making it the country's political, cultural, and economic centre. As of 2007, Seoul became the third most expensive city in the world and the most expensive in Asia.

In recent years, the metropolitan government has undertaken major environmental projects, including the restoration of Cheonggyecheon.

Climate

In common with the rest of South Korea, Seoul has a monsoon-influenced humid continental climate, , despite the fact that South Korea is surrounded on three sides by water. Summers are generally hot and humid, with monsoons taking place from June until September. August, the hottest month, has an average temperature of 72 °F to 86 °F (22°C to 30°C) with higher temperatures possible. Winters are often very cold when compared to places of a similar latitude, with an average January temperature of 19 °F to 33 °F (-7°C to 1°C). Winters are generally much drier than summers, although there are 28 days of snow in Seoul in each year on average.

Naturally occurring earthquakes

Fault types

Tectonic earthquakes will occur anywhere within the earth where there is sufficient stored elastic strain energy to drive fracture propagation along a fault plane. In the case of transform or convergent type plate boundaries, which form the largest fault surfaces on earth, they will move past each other smoothly and aseismically only if there are no irregularities or asperities along the boundary that increase the frictional resistance. Most boundaries do have such asperities and this leads to a form of stick-slip behaviour. Once the boundary has locked, continued relative motion between the plates leads to increasing stress and therefore, stored strain energy in the volume around the fault surface. This continues until the stress has risen sufficiently to break through the asperity, suddenly allowing sliding over the locked portion of the fault, releasing the stored energy. This energy is released as a combination of radiated elastic strain seismic waves, frictional heating of the fault surface, and cracking of the rock, thus causing an earthquake. This process of gradual build-up of strain and stress punctuated by occasional sudden earthquake failure is referred to as the Elastic-rebound theory. It is estimated that only 10 percent or less of an earthquake's total energy is radiated as seismic energy. Most of the earthquake's energy is used to power the earthquake fracture growth or is converted into heat generated by friction. Therefore, earthquakes lower the Earth's available elastic potential energy and raise its temperature, though these changes are negligible compared to the conductive and convective flow of heat out from the Earth's deep interior.^[1]

Earthquakes away from plate boundaries

Where plate boundaries occur within continental lithosphere, deformation is spread out a over a much larger area than the plate boundary itself. In the case of the San Andreas fault continental transform, many earthquakes occur away from the plate boundary and are related to strains developed within the broader zone of deformation caused by major irregularities in the fault trace (e.g. the “Big bend” region). The Northridge earthquake was associated with movement on a blind thrust within such a zone. Another example is the strongly oblique convergent plate boundary between the Arabian and Eurasian plates where it runs through the northwestern part of the Zagros mountains. The deformation associated with this plate boundary is partitioned into nearly pure thrust sense movements perpendicular to the boundary over a wide zone to the southwest and nearly pure strike-slip motion along the Main Recent Fault close to the actual plate boundary itself. This is demonstrated by earthquake focal mechanisms. ^[2]

All tectonic plates have internal stress fields caused by their interactions with neighbouring plates and sedimentary loading or unloading (e.g. deglaciation). These stresses may be sufficient to cause failure along existing fault planes, giving rise to intra-plate earthquakes.

Deep focus earthquakes

The majority of tectonic earthquakes originate at depths not exceeding tens of kilometers. In subduction zones, where older and colder oceanic crust descends beneath another tectonic plate, Deep focus earthquakes may occur at much greater depths (up to seven hundred kilometers). These seismically active areas of subduction are known as Wadati-Benioff zones. These are earthquakes that occur at a depth at which the subducted lithosphere should no longer be brittle, due to the high temperature and pressure. A possible mechanism for the generation of deep focus earthquakes is faulting caused by olivine undergoing a phase transition into a spinel structure.^[3]

Earthquakes and volcanic activity

Earthquakes also often occur in volcanic regions and are caused there, both by tectonic faults and by the movement of magma in volcanoes. Such earthquakes can serve as an early warning of volcanic eruptions.

Earthquake storms

Sometimes a series of earthquakes occur in a sort of earthquake storm, where the earthquakes strike a fault in clusters, each triggered by the shaking or stress redistribution of the previous earthquakes. Similar to aftershocks but on adjacent segments of fault, these storms occur over the course of years, and with some of the later earthquakes as damaging as the early ones. Such a pattern was observed in the sequence of about a dozen earthquakes that struck the North Anatolian Fault in Turkey in the 20th century, the half dozen large earthquakes in New Madrid in 1811-1812, and has been inferred for older anomalous clusters of large earthquakes in the Middle East and in the Mojave Desert.

Minor earthquakes occur nearly constantly around the world in places like California and Alaska in the U.S., as well as in Chile, Peru, Indonesia, Iran, Pakistan the Azores in Portugal, Turkey, New Zealand, Greece, Italy, and Japan,^[4] Larger earthquakes occur less frequently, the relationship being exponential; for example, roughly ten times as many earthquakes larger than magnitude 4 occur in a particular time period than earthquakes larger than magnitude 5. In the (low seismicity) United Kingdom, for example, it has been calculated that the average recurrences are:

an earthquake of 3.7 - 4.6 every year
an earthquake of 4.7 - 5.5 every 10 years
an earthquake of 5.6 or larger every 100 years.

The number of seismic stations has increased from about 350 in 1931 to many thousands today. As a result, many more earthquakes are reported than in the past because of the vast improvement in instrumentation (not because the number of earthquakes has increased). The USGS estimates that, since 1900, there have been an average of 18 major earthquakes (magnitude 7.0-7.9) and one great earthquake (magnitude 8.0 or greater) per year, and that this average has been relatively stable.^[5] In fact, in recent years, the number of major earthquakes per year has actually decreased, although this is likely a statistical fluctuation. More detailed statistics on the size and frequency of earthquakes is available from the USGS.^[6]

Most of the world's earthquakes (90%, and 81% of the largest) take place in the 40,000-km-long, horseshoe-shaped zone called the circum-Pacific seismic belt, also known as the Pacific Ring of Fire, which for the most part bounds the Pacific Plate.^[7]^[8] Massive earthquakes tend to occur along other plate boundaries, too, such as along the Himalayan Mountains. Humans can cause earthquakes for example by constructing large dams and buildings, drilling and injecting liquid into wells, and by coal mining and oil drilling.^[9]

With the rapid growth of mega-cities such as Mexico City, Tokyo or Tehran, in areas of high seismic risk, some seismologists are warning that a single quake may claim the lives of up to 3 million people.^[10]^[11]^[12]

There are many effects of earthquakes including, but not limited to the following:

Shaking and ground rupture

Shaking and ground rupture are the main effects created by earthquakes, principally resulting in more or less severe damage to buildings or other rigid structures. The severity of the local effects depends on the complex combination of the earthquake magnitude, the distance from epicenter, and the local geological and geomorphological conditions, which may amplify or reduce wave propagation. The ground-shaking is measured by ground acceleration.

Specific local geological, geomorphological, and geostructural features can induce high levels of shaking on the ground surface even from low-intensity earthquakes. This effect is called site or local amplification. It is principally due to the transfer of the seismic motion from hard deep soils to soft superficial soils and to effects of seismic energy focalization owing to typical geometrical setting of the deposits.

Ground rupture is a visible breaking and displacement of the earth's surface along the trace of the fault, which may be of the order of few metres in the case of major earthquakes. Ground rupture is a major risk for large engineering structures such as dams, bridges and nuclear power stations and requires careful mapping of existing faults to identify any likely to break the ground surface within the life of the structure.

Landslides and avalanches

Earthquakes can cause landslides and avalanches, which may cause damage in hilly and mountainous areas.

Fires

Following an earthquake, fires can be generated by break of the electrical power or gas lines. In the event of water mains rupturing and a loss of pressure, it may also become difficult to stop the spread of a fire once it has started.

Soil liquefaction

Soil liquefaction occurs when, because of the shaking, water-saturated granular material temporarily loses its strength and transforms from a solid to a liquid. Soil liquefaction may cause rigid structures, as buildings or bridges, to tilt or sink into the liquefied deposits.

Tsunami

Undersea earthquakes and earthquake-triggered landslides into the sea, can cause Tsunami. See, for example, the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake.

Floods

Floods may be a secondary effects of earthquakes, if dams are damaged.

Earthquakes may cause landslips to dam rivers, which then collapse and cause floods.

Human impacts

Earthquakes may result in disease, lack of basic necessities, loss of life, higher insurance premiums, general property damage, road and bridge damage, and collapse of buildings or destabilization of the base of buildings which may lead to collapse in future earthquakes.

A tsunami (pronounced /tsuːˈnɑːmi/) is a series of waves created when a body of water, such as an ocean, is rapidly displaced. Earthquakes, mass movements above or below water, some volcanic eruptions and other underwater explosions, landslides, underwater earthquakes, large asteroid impacts and testing with nuclear weapons at sea all have the potential to generate a tsunami. The effects of a tsunami can be devastating due to the immense volumes of water and energy involved. Since meteorites are small, they will not generate a tsunami. The Greek historian Thucydides was the first to relate tsunamis to submarine quakes, but understanding of the nature of tsunamis remained slim until the 20th century and is the subject of ongoing research.

A tsunami made the news in December 2004: a monster wave, started by a magnitude-9 earthquake off the west coast of Sumatra. It overwhelmed long stretches of coastline along the Indian Ocean shore and drowned more than 100,000 people.

Here's what tsunamis are like. . .
You're sitting in your seaside house and you notice that the surf sounds different. You look out and see that the water has receded, as if the tide had pulled out in a hurry. The sea stays low for several minutes.
If you don't know about tsunamis, you stand and stare, or you ignore it and go back to your business. If you don't know better, you might even go down to the shore and start poking around the exposed seafloor with its stranded fish. Then the sea rises, as quickly and quietly as it left—then it keeps on rising, higher than you've ever seen it go. The sea grows louder and outruns you, catches your ankles, knocks you down, and smashes you against trees and rocks and buildings as you drown in its muddy, turbulent flow.
If you're smart, you start running for high ground immediately, and with luck you may survive. You may watch this flood come and go several times over the course of a few hours. With some tsunamis the water doesn't recede first, and that funny-sounding surf is the sea rising around your house without warning.

The tsunami that struck Thailand on December 26, 2004.

The term tsunami comes from the Japanese meaning harbor ("tsu", 津) and wave ("nami", 波). [a. Jap. tsunami, tunami, f. tsu harbour + nami waves. - Oxford English Dictionary]. For the plural, one can either follow ordinary English practice and add an s, or use an invariable plural as in Japanese. Tsunamis are common throughout Japanese history; approximately 195 events in Japan have been recorded.

A tsunami can be generated when converging or destructive plate boundaries abruptly move and vertically displace the overlying water. It is very unlikely that they can form at divergent (constructive) or conservative plate boundaries. This is because constructive or conservative boundaries do not generally disturb the vertical displacement of the water column. Subduction zone related earthquakes generate the majority of all tsunamis.

WINTER

Winter is one of the four seasons of temperate zones. Almost all English-language calendars, going by astronomy, state that winter begins on the winter solstice, and ends on the spring equinox. It is the season with the shortest days and the lowest everage temperature. It has colder weather and, especially in the higher latitudes or altitudes, snow and ice. The coldest everage temperatures of the season are typically experienced in January in the Northern Hemisphere and in July in the Southern Hemisphere.

Passing seasons change the habits and moods of people. During the winter months in the northern hemisphere, a gloominess nicknamed "Winter blues", "February blahs", "Holiday depression", or doldrums, is informally noted amongst people. The severest cases of this type of depression in diagnosed as seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Symptoms include sleeping more, tiredness, depression, and physical aches. Although causes include genetic disposition and stress, the prevailing environmental influence in decreased exposure to light due to the angle of the sun and the increased amount of clothing that must be worn to keep warm.

Many winter activities involve the use of snow in some form, such as skiing, snowball fight, snowman, and snow castle. Many others winter activities and sports focus on ice, such as ice skating, ice diving, ice climbing, ice Hockey, and many more.

AUTUMN

Autumn (also known as fall in North American English) is one of the four temperate seasons : summer, autumn, spring, and winter. Autumn marks the transition from summer usually in September (northern hemisphere) or March (southern hemisphere) when the arrival of night becomes noticeably earlier. Autumn starts on 22nd September and ends on 2oth December, in the northern hemisphere. Autumn starts on or around 7th August and ends on about 6th November in solar term.

Around this time, deciduous tress shed their leaves, with the leaves changing to a reddish or brownish hue before falling. Such coloured leaves have come to be colloquially called "fall foliage". In the temperate zones, autumn is the season during which most crops are harvested, and deciduous trees lose their leaves. It is also the season during which days get shorter and cooler, the nights get longer, and precipitation gradually increases (in some parts of the world).

Although colour change in leaves occurs wherever deciduous trees are found, coloured autumn foliage is most famously noted in two regions of the world : most of Canada and the United States ; and Eastern Asia, including China, Korea, and Japan. It can also be very significant in Australia and New Zealand, but not to the same degree.

According to the astronomical definition, spring begins on Mach 21 and lasts until June 20, the vernal equinox in the northern hemisphere . According to this definition, therefore, the traditional mid-summer's day is the first day of summer. The meteorological definition (used in order to express whether 'spring' has been hot or cold or wet, for example) has spring starting on March 1, since this is more in line with weather conditions thought to be typical of spring. The phenological definition of spring relates to the blossoming of a range of plant species. It therefore varies according to the climate (as in 'Spring comes late to the north-east'). Calendars typically give the first, but the second and third are more in line with common use.

According to solar term, spring begins on February 4 and ends on May 4. In the southern hemisphere, spring is generally accepted to begin on September 1 and last until November 30.
As in summer, the axis of theEarth is tilted toward the Sun and the length of daylight rapidly increases in the northern hemisphere. The northern hemisphere begins to warm significantly causing new plant growth to "spring forth," giving the season its name. Snow begins to melt and streams swell with runoff and spring rains. Most flowering plants bloom this time of year, in a long succession sometimes beginning even when snow is still on the ground, and continuing into early summer. In normally snow less areas "spring" may begin as early as February during warmer years, with subtropical areas having very subtle differences, and tropical ones none at all. Sub artic areas may not experience "spring" at all until May or even June, or December in the outer Antarctic.

Severe weather most often occurs during the spring, when warm air begins to invade from lower latitudes while cold air is still pushing from the Polar Regions. Flooding is also most common in and near mountainous areas during this time of year because of snowmelt, many times accelerated by warm rains. In the United States, Tornado Alley is most active by far this time of year, especially since theRocky Mountains prevent the surging hot and cold air masses from spreading eastward and instead force them directly at each other. Besides tornadoes, supercell thunderstorms can also produce dangerously large hail and very high winds, for which severethunderstorm warning or tornado warning is usually issued. Even more so than winter, the jet streams play an important role in severe weather in the springtime.

The hurricane season officially begins in late spring, on May 15 in the northeastern Pacific and June 1 in the northern Atlantic . Before these dates, hurricanes are almost unheard of and even tropical storms are rare, one of the earliest ever being Tropical storm Ana in mid-April 2003.
Spring is seen as a time of growth, renewal, of new life (both plant and animal) being born. The term is also used more generally as a metaphor for the start of better times, as in Prague Spring.

Firstly, I’m happy to be a student of UKM. Because I no need to pay the higher tuition fees n living expenses compare to private college. Recently, UKM is among the top university in Malaysia, I can’t admit it.

The Arabic honorific, " Darul Naim" meaning " The beautiful Abode". In English perfectly described Kelantan as the state is indeed beautiful and rich in cultural heritage and tradition foods.

About Foods

I was birth and grow up at Kelantan. I love and miss my country very much. One of the things you can't miss when you are in Kelantan is the food here. The local delicious here are unique and veru special. Foods such nasi dagang, nasi kerabu, nasi berlauk, pulut ikan kering, nasi tumpang and laksa Kelantan. This place also have tradition pastry such as jala emas, buah tanjung, badak pastry, putih telur (tahi itik but it just name but it is one of the pastry ) and my favourite pastry is akok. It is very delicious and must try........

Siti Khadijah Market

Now, allow me share with you some interesting place to visit at Kelantan. One of the most interesting places to travel to in Kelantan is the Siti Khadijah Market. This market named from the Prophet Muhammad's entrepreneurial wife.

Here,you can see all the bustling activities of bargaining, the sound of laughter and most of them are women. They are hardworking, very kind and always smiles. You can choice and buy many type of clothes, songket, kain batik, local craft, salted fish, fresh tropical fruits and others.

Gelanggang Seni

Another intersting places to visit is the Cultural Centre, as the " Gelanggang Seni". This place have many activities such as kite flying, top spinning competitions, puppet shadows plays and traditional Malay dance and band perfomance.

Pantai Cahaya Bulan

Kelantan also have many beautiful beaches. One of the most famous beaches in Kelantan is the Pantai Cahaya Bulan (Moonlight Beach). It has white sand and beautiful scenery. You can buy "keropok lekor" and pastries at there because many people sell at stall with very cheap prices.

PORT DICKSON THE PARADISE FOR VACATION…

Port Dickson, the playground resort in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, is 34km from the state capital of Seremban and about one and a half hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur. It offers 18km of fine sandy beaches fringed by casuarinas, coconut palms and the spreading branches of the Banyan tree. The road practically hugs the coastline - you can just stop wherever it suits your fancy and just plunge into the cool waters. Vendors along the road offer thirst quenching drinks of coconut water and sugar-cane juice.

Beaches
Plunge headlong into a day of fun-filled leisure activities such as water-skiing, canoeing, snorkelling and wind surfing. Enquire at your hotel reception for arrangements to utilise these facilities. If you enjoy sailing, arrange to have temporary membership at the Yacht Club.

Blue Lagoon
About 15 km from Port Dickson town lies the Blue Lagoon which offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding greenery and the blue open sea. The lagoon is an ideal spot for swimming, boating, wind surfing and water skiing. This is where the action is when it comes to having fun in the sun. Accommodation is easily obtainable as a number of hotels and motels are located here.

Cape Rachardo
Visit the lighthouse at Cape Rachardo built by the Portuguese in the 16th century. The beacon guided sailing ships to Malacca, the most important port in South East Asia. The lighthouse is still functioning today. Ascend the narrow spiral staircase and see the magnificent view of the coastline of Sumatra, 38km across the Straits. The cape is also the stopover point for migratory birds. From September to March, flocks of sparrows, honey buzzards and swifts can be seen here together with hawks and eagles. Walk down the 63 steps beside the lighthouse and follow the jungle trek to a secluded beach. The footprint embedded in a boulder, about 50 metre to the right of the track, is said to be that of Hang Tuah, the legendary Malay warrior of the 15th century. Legend has it that upon acquiring innate strength and knowledge, Hang Tuah chose to meditate here. The footprint marks the spot where he first landed at Tanjung Tuan. A nearby well whose icy cool water is a boon for the tired and thirsty, is also said to have been dug by him. Local devotees have known to pay their homage at this spot.

Fort Lukut
About 7km from Port Dickson stands the Fort of Raja Jumaat, the 19th century Bugis warrior. The fort was built in 1847 to control the lucrative tin trade in the area. Today the muzzle loading guns used to defend the fort can be seen within the grounds of the District Officer’s residence and outside the Police Station in town. In the vicinity of the fort are also the remains of the foundation of an old palace and a royal burial ground.

Fort Kempas
About 23km from the lighthouse, there is a small village called Keramat Ujung Pasir. Here you will find a15th century tomb of a leading historical personality, Ulama Sheikh Ahmad Makhtum, with its famous carved megalith. Beside his grave are the famous stone inscriptions or "Batu Bersurat" which depict his struggle and victory. The mystery surrounding the stone remains unsolved to this day. Of special interest is the ‘ordeal stone’, an ancient lie-detector, through which a person puts his arm when answering questions. If he lies, the stone tightens like a vice.

Restaurants
If you are the adventurous type, get the taste of the local cuisine which is hot and spicy. There’s fish cooked in thick gravy of coconut milk and the killer's cili padi’s- guaranteed to make your mouth and eyes smart. Or try the rendang (beef cooked with coconut milk and a rich assortment of spices). This is normally eaten with 'Lemang' - glutinous rice cooked in bamboo.

Terengganu is one of the Malaysia state which is endowed with a wealth of charming and refreshing natural landscapes. She has beaches, exotic islands, lush virgin tropical jungle, quaint fishing villages, dazzling waterfalls and many, many more. Semiarid Desert

The major deserts of this type include the sagebrush of Utah, Montana and Great Basin. They also include the Nearctic realm (North America, Newfoundland, Greenland, Russia, Europe and northern Asia).

The summers are moderately long and dry, and like hot deserts, the winters normally bring low concentrations of rainfall. Summer temperatures usually average between 21-27° C. It normally does not go above 38° C and evening temperatures are cool, at around 10° C. Cool nights help both plants and animals by reducing moisture loss from transpiration, sweating and breathing. Furthermore, condensation of dew caused by night cooling may equal or exceed the rainfall received by some deserts. As in the hot desert, rainfall is often very low and/or concentrated. The average rainfall ranges from 2-4 cm annually.

The soil can range from sandy and fine-textured to loose rock fragments, gravel or sand. It has a fairly low salt concentration, compared to deserts which receive a lot of rain (acquiring higher salt concentrations as a result). In areas such as mountain slopes, the soil is shallow, rocky or gravely with good drainage. In the upper bajada (lower slopes) they are coarse-textured, rocky, well-drained and partly "laid by rock bench." In the lower bajada (bottom land) the soil is sandy and fine-textured, often with "caliche hardpan." In each case there is no subsurface water.
The spiny nature of many plants in semiarid deserts provides protection in a hazardous environment. The large numbers of spines shade the surface enough to significantly reduce transpiration. The same may be true of the hairs on the woolly desert plants. Many plants have silvery or glossy leaves, allowing them to reflect more radiant energy. These plants often have an unfavorable odor or taste. Semiarid plants include: Creosote bush, bur sage (Franseria dumosa or F. deltoidea), white thorn, cat claw, mesquite, brittle bushes (Encelia farinosa), lyciums, and jujube.

During the day, insects move around twigs to stay on the shady side; jack rabbits follow the moving shadow of a cactus or shrub. Naturally, many animals find protection in underground burrows where they are insulated from both heat and aridity. These animals include mammals such as the kangaroo rats, rabbits, and skunks; insects like grasshoppers and ants; reptiles are represented by lizards and snakes; and birds such as burrowing owls and the California thrasher.

COLD DESERT

These deserts are characterized by cold winters with snowfall and high overall rainfall throughout the winter and occasionally over the summer. They occur in the Antarctic, Greenland and the Nearctic realm. They have short, moist, and moderately warm summers with fairly long, cold winters. The mean winter temperature is between -2 to 4° C and the mean summer temperature is between 21-26° C.

The winters receive quite a bit of snow. The mean annual precipitation ranges from 15-26 cm. Annual precipitation has reached a maximum of 46 cm and a minimum of 9 cm. The heaviest rainfall of the spring is usually in April or May. In some areas, rainfall can be heavy in autumn. The soil is heavy, silty, and salty. It contains alluvial fans where soil is relatively porous and drainage is good so that most of the salt has been leached out.

The plants are widely scattered. In areas of shadscale, about 10 percent of the ground is covered, but in some areas of sagebush it approaches 85 percent. Plant heights vary between 15 cm and 122 cm. The main plants are deciduous, most having spiny leaves. Widely distributed animals are jack rabbits, kangaroo rats, kangaroo mice, pocket mice, grasshopper mice, and antelope ground squirrels. In areas like Utah, population density of these animals can range from 14-41 individuals per hectare. All except the jack rabbits are burrowers. The burrowing habit also applies to carnivores like the badger, kit fox, and coyote. Several lizards do some burrowing and moving of soil. Deer are found only in the winter.

Malacca is a quiet town on the west coast of the Malay Peninsula with a rather colorful history. This Malaysian seaside city was, at different times, held by Indian, Portuguese, and Dutch colonists. China heavily influenced the area as well, using Malacca as a trading port and a place settle. In fact, Peranakans the descendants of Chinese immigrants. Malacca is considered a center of Peranakan culture and identity. Because of all these things, Malacca is a place of deep history, some of it still evident today. It is also a quiet and beautiful place to visit.

There are many old buildings in Malacca’s old quarter. There are colonial palaces, squares, and churches, but many of the regular buildings are also quite old. It is possible to see houses and shops which are more than a hundred years old. These buildings have a strong Chinese influence, which is evidence of Malacca’s Chinese ties.

Red Square houses a colonial church known as Christ Church. This is a very beautiful square, and though it was built in european style, the surroundings and local people give it a very Malaysian flair. There are also some 17th century Dutch structures surrounding the square.

For some leisure activities, enjoy one of Malaysia’s favorite pastimes, kite flying. Some vendors near the beach sell kites for very cheap, and there is always a group around to join, especially on weekends. If you are not a kite flier, simply watching the skills of some of the locals is enjoyable too.

Jonker Walk is a night market that usually has quite a buzz in its atmosphere. Aside from great street food and shopping, there are often performance arts and street shows. Everyone is quite friendly. This is a great place to get a taste of local life.

Ayer Keroh Forest offers a feel of nature near the city. A relaxing stroll through the greenery is a good way to experience the nature of Malaysia. As is the Malacca Zoo, which is highly recommended, and often called the best Zoo in Malaysia.

There are other historic sites around Malacca, such as The Cheng Hoon Teng Temple (17th Century), Bukit China Cemetery (18th Century), and a preserved Portuguese settlement. Despite the history, it is the local color that many people find most memorable about Malacca. From kite flying, to street food, to a generally festive atmosphere, Malacca offers plenty to experience.

SABAH, which is also know as "LAND BELOW THE WIND", is great place to visit if you to indulge in nature's delights. With its majestic mountains, undersea wonders, lush rainforest, colourful people and unique cultures, the state is eat to woo and win the hearts of my travellers. Sabah, the second largerst state in Malaysia is situated at the northern part of the island of Borneo, the third largerst island in the world.Sabah is botanical paradise. The world's largerst flower, Refflesia whose huge red bloom can grow up to metre in diameter is found in Sabah. There is the majestic Kinabalu, the highest mountain in Southeast Asia towering 4101 metres.

Sabah is also endowed with a hetergenous population. The indigenous population are made up of some 30 groups using more than 50 indigenous languages and not less than 80 dialects. The main ethnic group who make up nearly one third of population, the Murut, The Paitan and the Bajau. The largest ethnic group is the Dusun/Kadazan.

There are many festivals is celebrated, given the ethnic diversity here. The people celebrete throught music, dance and food that are uniquely their own. among the festivals are the Regatta Lepa Semporna (April), Pesta Kaamatan (May), Pesta Rumbia (July), Pesta Kelapa (September) and Pesta Jagung (Oktober).

Hello!....Now I want to show about Petronas Towers in Malaysia....

It's not often that a single building becomes a status symbol for an entire nation. The Eiffel Tower in France; The Empire State Building in the United States; and now the Petronas Towers in Malaysia. The twin tower rose on the Pacific rim at a time when Asia's economy was booming.

The Malaysian national oil company (Peroliam Nasional) needed new quarters to house its expanding operation. What they ended up doing is creating an icon. The towers have been featured in films, television, books, and even video games and are recognized for their distinctive style. A pair of slender shafts rise above the city. They are slick in appearance because of the glass curtain walls, but still have a pleasant tactile appearance because of the scalloping of the shafts to create high-rent views. Joining the two towers is a sky bridge at the 41st and 42nd floors. It stretches 192 feet across the gap to link the two buildings from 558 feet above ground.

It is, unfortunately, supported by a truss structure, rather than something more evocative of the rest of the building. The Petronas Towers footprint is an eight-sided star with rounded nodules - a common symbol in Asian and Islamic religions. And it's a fitting redemption for a piece of land that was once a racetrack. In a building of this scale, moving people around is a major challenge. The designers came up with an interesting way of addressing the problem. At the main entrances, people who are going to even-numbered floors can simply board an elevator. People going to odd-numbered floors must ride an escalator one floor up to board the second level of the very same elevators. This way a single elevator car can serve two floors simultaneously.

At 2004, I visit Jakarta ,Indonesia with my friends. It's a good travel but to me Malaysia is very good than Indonesia in any things. Most people in Jakarta look like very stress because Jakarta is a big city and very crowded.All the people make it's self and didn't care about other people. They only think about how to make money and try to confirm they can servive for tomorrow.

People in Jakarta is not be friendly.They like to lier for any one if we can.They dont care what can hapend to you becouse they only think about their self thing.

Traffic ia Jakarta is very bad and i confirm if you walk, you can received to your destination faster than you use the vehicle like taxi or each other.

Most people are very poor and dont have a house. They do everything to have some foods.Some people very rich and have a power. They can do every things and can have every thing.

MIRI, 2nd LARGEST CITY IN SARAWAK

Hello friends...Have you heard about Miri? Or anything about it?...MIRI, is a city in northern Sarawak, Malaysia, on the island of Borneo. It is also adjacent to the neighbouring country of Brunei. Miri is home to a population of about 300,000 people and is thus the 2nd largest city in Sarawak. Miri was elevated to city status on May 20, 2005 and it is the 10th city in Malaysia. Miri is the birthplace of Sarawak's and Malaysia's petroleum industry, which remains the major industry of the city. The other major industries include processed timber, oil palm production, and tourism.

The Grand Old Lady is a must see for all visitors to Miri. Historically, Miri is a town founded upon oil and nothing captures this relationship so well than the Miri Oil Well No.1 or fondly known as the "Grand Old Lady". It was situated on top of Bukit Telaga Minyak (Oil Well Hill), and it was formerly called Canada Hill. There was a lookout tower near the monument where the visitors can have a good view of Miri City with the sea as its horizon. On the top of the hill also have Miri Petroleum Science Museum.

From a bustling oil town, Miri is experiencing a development boom into a brand new resort city. There are ambitious plans for Miri. Miri has many great and beautiful places to go. For examples, there are four wolrd-class national parks in Miri, such as Mount Mulu National Park, Niah National Park, Lambir Hills National Park, and Loagan Bunut National Park. The best thing about Miri is about it location. Miri, being geographically close to the sea, boast some spectacular beaches.

Miri has 14 public parks and recreational grounds, such as Miri Bulatan Park (a lake garden), Luak Bay Esplanade (the best place to watch sunset),Taman Selera (family picnic spot), Taman Awam Miri (a theme park), and Miri City Fan (design like a fan) are the most popular parks among residents as well as visitors. Miri is also well known as a shopping paradise among Malaysians and Bruneians. These include the Bintang Plaza, a popular mall and hang out place for most teens; Boulevard Shopping Complex, Imperial Shopping Mall, E-Mart, Miri Plaza and many more.

Miri, being geographically close to the sea, boasts some spectacular beaches. Cairo is the largest city in egypt and most popular city in Africa. Cairo was founded by the Fatimid Cliphh as a royal enclosure, and replaceed Fusfat as the seat of the goverment. After that, it ruled under The Mamluks, Ottomans and briefly occupied by Napoleon. Muhammad Ali of Egypt made Cairo the capital of his independent empire. British took control of it until Egypt independence in 1952.
Cairo is a metropolitan area and it has a population of about 7.7 milion people and it also the sixteenth most populous metropolitan area in the world. Today Cairo become a great city mix between various historic towns and modern districts into one.
There are many historical place to visits in Cairo such as pyramids, saladin’s citadel, the virgin Mary’s Tree, the Sphinx, Heliopolis and Al-Azhar.

Kuala Selangor is a town located in Selangor Malaysia, and is capital of an administrative district of the same name.
many tourists coming this way to look Kelip-Kelip at Kampung Kuantan village or local travellers on a trail of seafood binging. Kuala Selangor town is not particularly big and one can easily walk around without a map or a guide. It is also possible to walk to the Kuala Selangor Nature Park and Bukit Melawati for a visit.
Kuala Selangor is an old royal capital of Selangor. It was conquered by the dutch in,1784 when they successfully attempted to expand from their base in Melaka to control the tin trade of Perak and Selangor.
Bukit Melawati is a hill overlooking Kuala Selangor and theStrait of Malacca. The Dutch destroyed the existing fortifications on the hill during their 1784 invasion, and built a European-style castle, naming it Fort Atlingsburg after their commander. The fort was fought over repeatedly by the Dutch, Sultanate of Selangor and later the British, until all that remains today are some scattered ruins.

Today, we always heard or watch about many kind of disaster and the famous is earthquakes. Earthquakes happend in saveral contries. Ancient people such as in Norse Mythology believe earthquakes were explained as the violent struggling of the god Loki while in Greek Mythology, Poseidon was the god of earthquakes. The real difination about earthquakes acctually is a result of a sudden release of energy in the Earth's crust that creates seismic waves. We can recorded it with a seismometer. On the Earth's surface, earthquakes manifeist themselves by a shaking and sometimes suffer suffiicient displacement to cause a tsunami. The shaking in earthquakes can also trigger landslides and occasionally volcanic activity. Earthquakes can cause many bad accident and large damage. Some people lost their beloved after earthquakes. As a Malaysian we must thanked to god because our country not effected by earthquakes.

My Semester Break

Assalamulikum, we meet again...this time I want to talk about my semester break...

In a semester break, I usually go back to my home town in Kuching. I never go to another place when my semester break or school break. I like to stay at home and be with my family. I will helps my mother to look after my sister children when she go to work. Everday my sister will sent her children to our house. I like to look after my sister kids. Sometimes, I read a story books and plays with them. In the afternoon, I usually take my nephew and my niece for a walks around the house. Sometimes, they like to cycle around our compound. When I watering the plants in our compound they always helps me.

And every Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning, I often bring my mother to `Sunday Market` or in Malays `Pasar Minggu`. Pasar Minggu starting every Saturday afternoon and winding down by noontime Sunday. We like to shopping at `Pasar Minggu` because there are many thing we can buy especially the fresh food. I usually buy some fishs, vegetables, fruits and others thing. Sometime I buy some plants at Pasar Minggu.

If all of you have a plan to visit Kuching one day , don`t forget to visit Sunday Market or Pasar Minggu. You can buy a products ranging from agricultural, forest products, fruits , plants and flowers and others.

something that i can't forget in my life

The life in teacher trainee college 9 years ago still fresh in my memory. The one that i can't forget was the day i joined temporary armay training which is also known as 'PSSTLDM' in KD Sri Klang Jalan Semarak,Kuala lumpur.During the day,i was traning to a real soldier.The traning seassion about 3 weeks and can be devided into three categories which were conducted differently for each weeks.

First week, i was exposed to the first category of training which is known as fitness session. During this session, i had been forced run about 20 km a day.Can you imagine how far it is and how i felt that time?.Only God know, how i felt. No wonder many had quitted during the first week as they could not stand the preassure.

Second week, the training session became harder than before. All the trainees including me had been sent to 'Hutan Lipur Ulu Yam' in Selangor for a jungle trainning session. There, i was training to survive in the jungle and skill to using weapons with the weapon M16.
The last week of the training session, i was trained in large groups and it was not easy as i thought. I had to attend a few class an handling weapons, communication, disciplinary class, team manegement, combact medic and many more.

The experience that i had gone through the training till know was still fresh in my mind.

KUCHING, SARAWAK

Kuching is the capital of the East Malaysian state of Sarawak. Kuching is the most populous city in the state of Sarawak and the fourth largest city in Malaysia. Kuching was elevated to city status on 1 August 1988. Within the town, there are several museums such as the well-known Sarawak Museum, Chinese Museum, Cat Museum, and other which are definitely not to be missed when visiting Kuching. Interesting landmarks and sites are the Astana, Fort Margherita, Tua Pek Kong temple and Main Bazaar. The Kuching waterfront, which is really a riverside esplanade, is situated right next to the main hotels and commercial heartland of the city, and offers a pleasant walk in the evening. When you are tired of strolling, the old shops on the opposite side of the waterfront will gladly sell you all manner of' 'antiques' and tradecraft.

Some other interesting areas near the centre of town include Padungan Street, which is the main Chinatown area of the city. Shops here appear virtually unchanged from 20 years ago, and offer fascinating insights into life as it was then. Meanwhile, Carpenter Street and India Street still maintain their olde world charm, though the relentless process of globalisation is slowly encroaching. The old Courthouse building forms the link between Carpenter Street and India Street, and is well worth a quick stroll as you are live the faded colonial splendour. The many well-manicured parks dotted around the city are also great to visit.

Numerous natural attractions including National Parks (notably Bako and Kuching Wetlands National Park)and the Semenggoh Wildlife Center which places an orang utan orphanage and rehabilitation program are also popular attractions. Kuching is also noted for its intense and beautiful sunsets, often complimented by tourists as "one of the most beautiful in the world".

Assalamualaikum,hye my friends. How about your holidays last week? I hope your very happy. Last week my family go to holiday at Melaka. This place is very beautiful location for holiday. Becouse Melaka have a good place like Afamosa, Taman Buaya, Taman Rama-rama, Zoo Melaka and many place can go. My family just go Afamosa, Taman Buaya and Gant B. First place we were go at Taman Buaya. Taman Buaya have many crocodile and many species crocodile we don't know. Taman Buaya also have The Ghost House and performance of crocodile together. This place we also can get more information about Crocodile.

After that, we rounded in Taman Buaya. We go to Gant B. That is a small museum about bee. This place have a many species bee and nest bee. I'm very interested about the nest. How they make the nest , if i look this with my eye. Can i do like this? It’s very impossible and difficult to me. It is very beautiful. I also can drinks the true honey and many type honey there.

And last location we go the Afamosa Resort Malaysia. The Afamosa have a lot of good and nice place, an example place at Afamosa like Safari, Water World and Animal world. A new game at the Afamosa Resort Malaysia is Go-Kart Chellenge but we not going there. We just go at the Afamosa Water World and swiming. The holiday can make me feel so happy. I also learn a lot of information there. This is also one from people and environmant.

Unit 3 : My Long Trip Holidays...

At semester break last year, I with child, grandmother, aunt and my cousin already visit my uncle in Lahad Datu, Sabah '. We flew from KLIA to Tawau. We arriving in Tawau at 8pm, we stayed at hotel near the airport. Next morning, we go to Semporna. In semporna we already stay in small villa during one-night. View around very interesting small villa because it’s build above the water sea. From our small villa we can see variety of fish swim in the water. Before we went to Lahad Datu, we not forget buy goods pearl and Kristal from Semporna as remembrance.
During stay at my uncle house, I don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy seafood as prawn, octopus,plane and fish because it’s cheap and fresh and easy to be acquired considering my uncle's house nearby with sea.

We already go to picnic in Felda Sahabat, an area felda stay in coast. After that we go to Ranau. Our trip from Lahad Datu to Ranau takes period of about five hour. While there, we has called on Kundasang War Memorial and Kinabalu Park. We already stay at the rest house. From our rest house we can see the mountain top kinabalu clearly.

After two days in Ranau, we return again to Lahad Datu. After two weeks stay in Sabah, we go back to Semenangjung. Before that we manage to buy kitchen need as salted fish, dried prawns and remembrance to brought to go back. Us feel this holiday loveliest and unforgettable. We keep dream to visit more to Sabah…

GLOBAL WARMING

Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the earth’s near-surface air and ocean since the mid-twentieth century, and it’s projected continuation. Global warming happened when ultraviolet that radiated from sun to earth, and some of them will reflect to the aerospace by the atmosphere, and another more will descent to earth and warm it up. The other cause of global warming is carbon dioxide from vehicle such as car, motorcycle, aeroplane. Beside that, open burning also can be effect of global warming, and increase air pollution.

Global warming will melting glaciers, early snowmelt and severe droughts will cause more dramatic water shortages in the earth and rising sea level that coastal flooding. It also warm up sea surface temperature and may cause more hurricane and big waves like tsunami. The other effect is disruption of habitats and could cause many plant and animal species extinct.

Kuantan is one of most popular cities in East Coast Malaysian. Kuantan also known as a capital state of Pahang. The history about Kuantan was founded in 1850 by Haji Senik and his followers. This city become capital state when the Pahang Goverment shifted the adminstrive centre from Kuala lipis in 1955. The population in Kuantan are from Malays, Chinese, Indians and other races. There are many famuos things in Kuantan such as production of handicraft, batik, salted fish and keropok. The tourist can also visit many beautiful beach such as Cherating, Batu Buruk or go to Sungai Pandan Waterfall. The new tourism place in Kuantan is Esplaned, people can enjoys beautiful view of Sungai Pahang and they can walks along river bank. Finally if all of you are visit at East Coast the first place you must visit is Kuantan because it can give many exciting experience and sweet memories.

HOLIDAY IN PENANG BY ASPAH ISNI

Last week, I brought my family to Penang Island to spend our holiday together.

We went there by a car and we take about four hours to arrive there. My children

were so excited to go there. For the first day, we just took time to rest at hotel after
check in. Next day, we were hiking at Bukit Bendera until evening. The

environment was so calm and I loved that surroundings. Then, we went to Taman

Belia and we saw many people did their own activities such as jogging. Before we

went back to hotel, we took time to pray at state mosque. For the next day, before

we back home, we bought some souvenirs such as shirts, key chains and mugs. I

felt so happy along this holiday because I could spend more times with my family.

And the most important thing is I could make my family happy.

My sweet holiday in Tioman Island. By Anggrek Abdullah.

Going for a holiday is one way to refresh our mind and body after such a long hard work or study. During the semester break last year I went to Pulau T ioman with my family. Pulau Tioman is one of the most beautiful island in Malaysia and loved by many tourists. We took a boat from Mersing. While in the boat, it reminded me of Tebelu, a village in Sarawak where I used to teach few years back. Boats were the means of transportation over there.
We were so lucky to get a chalet which was very near the sea. My kids were so happy and excited. All day long they swim and build sand castle. The island is really beautiful. We enjoyed the sunset. It was an exciting holidays for my family. We have fun together. It was my best holiday.
This year we plan to go to Pulau Langkawi. I hope my children will be happy and so will my husband. As an undergraduate students, I don’t have much time with them, so going for a holiday is the best way to spend our time together. I really long for the holidays.

Unit 3 ~ Great memories in Cameron Highland !!!

Hi…everybody! How about your holiday last week? Where did you go? Emm…for me holidays is one thing that I’m very love it. I like to go vacation with my family at interesting places around Malaysia. Usually every holiday I’ve plan to go vacation in somewhere, but it’s depend to me and my husband budget.

One of my vacations that I can’t forget was be last year when I came back from my hometown Perak. I brought my mother and my sister’s family went along with us to Cameron Highland. That was my second time to Cameron Highland after 11 years ago. It was very wonderful trip and holidays I had . Actually, Cameron Highland was change and different a lot. There are many interesting new places I can visit.

My journey started from Simpang Pulai, Ipoh. That’s was another a new highway built to Cameron Highland. It’s taken about 2 hours to arrived there. The weather is usually warm and sunny at that time especially when we arrive at the top of the hill. It’s still cold and cloudy along the way. The panoramic views are very beautiful and fantastic because we can find an abundance of vegetables and fruit farms here and also beautiful flowers nurseries. The tea plantation is my favorite’s place that I like to spend my time. It’s the one of the best ways to relax in Cameron Highland. We can drink a cup of tea while overlooking beautiful views of the tea plantation on an elevated platform.

However, there are many best places we can go such as strawberry farms, butterfly farm, cactus valley, souvenirs stores which is sold many type of thing and others else. I’m very sure that you will have a sweet memories and experience when you go to Cameron Highland because it was a fantastic holiday vacation for everyone who wants to go somewhere out of the ordinary.

I am a student at University Kebangsaan Malaysia major in special education. After my

classes at the university, I like to study in the faculty library. I usually go there in the afternoon

for one or two hour. Sometimes I study at home. I prefer to study alone but not often because I

am discuss with my friend. I always make notes when I study. It helps me to remember . In a

week I think I study about eight hours. Of course, I also have 16 hours of lectures.

Every thursday I go back to my house at Malacca to meet my family. At there, I use my time

for my husband and children. I learn my children and do other works as house wife.

MY STUDY HABIT

One of the greatest things about a good study habit is that it doesn't require much discipline. For me, the habit it can be easy, enjoyable and completely natural. So developing good study habits is as much about developing something enjoyable as it is about getting on with important work. Once I start doing a good habit, I will automatically begin to associate it with the rewards it brings. Start studying a little every day, and I will start getting better results. Develop the habit of eating well, andI will feel healthier and my mind will be clearer. The natural connection I make between hard work and results, will help the motivation develop itself.

I like to work every day, 7 days every week. For most people this is not desirable or even practical. But since I currently work at home it makes sense. Since I don't head off to university, or to work, I associate home with work. The weekends are the same as any other day for me. My computer still works, my books can still be read, and I can still think just as clearly. It is far easier for me to keep up the same routine as in a normal weekday, and then just make my workdays shorter.

Since I am involved in the same routine everyday, it is easy and I don't think about it. The whole process is automated, and it would actually be difficult for me to sit down in front of the television and watch rubbish all day. I'm not programmed to do that. However, I can still take time off. There are a few triggers that distract me from my work: If a good film comes on I can stop and watch that; if a friend comes round I'll spend time with them; or I can go out and leave my work completely behind. If any of these things happen I completely stop thinking about my work and I go and enjoy myself. But when I am at home on my own, my default programming is to work. I almost can't help it, a bit like some people can't help staying in front of the television all day.

The reason I can't help working when I have spare time, is because I have developed the habit of acting this way and I am consistent with it. But if I were to take every weekend off, it would stop being a habit and become a chore.This is the Monday morning syndrome. After a nice relaxing weekend where I've had the chance to lie in and catch up on my sleep, I suddenly have to go back to the old routine. And changing back is difficult. Yet so many of us do it every single week. It's not getting up early that's difficult (unless I'm not getting enough sleep), the difficulty is not getting up early every day.

What I do need to do to create a good study habit, is to have a consistent routine based on some external factor. In my case my routine is exactly the same every day. I get up, shower, grab breakfast and go to university. In the evening I'll sit at my computer, check for any important correspondents, and then start work or assigment. But if I were on holiday, this would be completely different. My routine is not just set to time, it is also set to my location and to other factors such as whether I have guests or not.

There are many other good study habits out there for me to apply. I'm sure, it will bring me incredible success. I just need to experiment, and make them a part of who I am. Systematically add good study habits to our routine and our success will also improve dramatically.

My last holiday was on a school break in 2003. My friends and I went to Langkawi Island. We flew from Kuching International Airport to KLIA. After that, we took a bus from Puduraya to Kuala Perlis. The journey to go to Langkawi Island from Kuala Perlis, tourists always took a ferry.

At Langkawi, we stayed at Langkasuka Resort. It was near the beach and we rent a car too. Sometimes, we went to the beach, but we never swim. At that time, the weather was always warm and sunny. We went to Padang Mat Sirat, Mahsuri Well, Mahsuri Tomb, Telaga Tujuh and Mount Mat Cincang, Langkawi’s second highest peak. At Langkawi, we never missed eating “Tomyam Putih”. It was very nice and quite spicy too. We also bought some chocolates and souvenirs at Pekan Kuah.

We also took for guaranteed to go to Tasik Dayang Bunting at Dayang Bunting Island. It was long journey. We enjoyed it very much because it is a very beautiful. The water in the lake was very cold and it is crystal clear. There were a lot of fishes in the lake. My friends and I went for a swim in the lake, but we used life jacket.

After three days and two nights at Langkawi, we travelled to Kuala Lumpur by bus. We went to KLCC and KL Tower. At KL Tower, visitors can have panoramic view of Kuala Lumpur. At Kuala Lumpur, we liked shopping too. We bought some clothes to make ‘Baju Kurung”. Then, we went back to Kuching after three days two nights at Kuala Lumpur. We really enjoyed our holiday. This is my best holiday so far. We will plan on going to Tioman Island and Pangkor Island again one day.

My first sister name is Nurliana bt Johari. She's 17 years old and she study at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Rinting. She take spm for this year. My second sister name is Nurnazurah bt Johari and she is 16 years old. She study same with his sister school. And lastly my young sister name is Nuraisyah bt Johari. At UKM i choose Special Education Learning Disabilities as my course. At the same time, i like to learn everything about computer programme or information technology skill.

Hi friends...It's a little bit about myself...My name is Norsilawati Binti Jamari...I'm 24 years old... :) Just call me eiyla...I come from Miri, Sarawak....and now, I take a Bachelor of Islamic Studies in Department of Syaria....I'm really enjoy it...before I continue my study in Bachelor, UKM, I took Diploma in Islamic Studies at Institut Kemahiran Islam Malaysia Sarawak (IKMAS), Sarawak....

I'm still single and available..hehehehe... ;) I have 5 siblings and I'm a last member in my family...My family call me "su"....I have 3 sisters and 1 brother...But my eldest sister was died a year ago....My ambition is to be a lawyer...Now, I hope I can be a lawyer in the future...My hobby are surfing internet, hang out with my friends, shopping, and watching movies...My favourite movie and drama is the Korean...hmmm...i've no idea now...so, i'll continue write about myself later....bye..... :)

Hi..I'm Nor Hafizah bt Borhan. just call me know but everybody here called me fizah...i'm 22 years old..i'm from sibu, sarawak. i'm still single and available.I take bachelor in Islamic studies in department of theology and philosophy. my favourite subjects are ilmu kalam, philosophy and contemporary islamic thought. I like to eat MacDonald's ice cream and mcChicken. it is very delicious..I want to be a lecturer of philosophy or philosopher on the future. i hope my dream come true..InsyaAllah..My favourite lecturer is Ustazah Wan Fariza who was teached me philosophy on semester 1. She was wonderful and intelligent person. eventhough she still young, but she knows all about philosophical and i admired her..i hope i can be like her.my father's name is Borhan bin haji Mahmud and my mother's name is Jamayah bt haji Khadri. both of them are working..i am the oldest and i have one younger sister, Rasyidah and two youngers brother, Mohd Hazim and Mohd Hazwan. i love my family very much and i always miss them.on the weekends i like to go to window shopping with my friends.. hehe..okay, i've got to go now..i'll continue it later...thanks for making this blog....see you... :)

My name is Lina Bt Nen and I am from Kuching, Sarawak. I am 38 years old. Now, I further study at UKM in Special Educationl:Learning Disability. Before that, I am a teachers in a normal school. My experience in teaching is 14 years. I teaches in a primary school. I teaches Bahasa Melayu, Pendidikan Muzik, Matematik and Pendidikan Moral. I teaches a primary 1 students.

In my free time I like reading, watching TV especilly Chinese Drama and gardening.
